The Band Banquet will be discussed and we will be electing new officers for 2012-2013. If you are interested in running for an office, you may be a write-in candidate, but you must declare your intention BEFORE the election. Only members can vote.

Thank you to everyone that made Eggfest 2012 success! Several people have asked what Eggfest is. As Mr. Egger said: “In a perfect world, this is a time of reward for the Band Students after a great Marching Season. But by the time Marching Season is over, everyone just wants to go home for the holidays. After the holidays, we come back and go right into Concert Season, so sometimes, we just have to find a the right time to do this for the kids.” Eggfest is an after-school function that allows the students to come together and just have some fun with games, food, music and just hanging out.
The Band Officers worked hard to organize a list of games and activities that included a cake walk, a jalapeno eating contest, a pudding-pie-in-the-face-free-for-all, a rave in the Large Ensemble Room courtesy of Cooper Thompson, Rock Band in the Band Hall, and an inflatable obstacle course. The Band Officers did an exceptional job and you could tell by how much fun everyone was having! Evy Rendon, Band President, along with her officers, did a wonderful job of keeping everything on track and moving along.
The Band Directors somehow managed to escape the pudding-pie riot and not get hit with any – which considering how much pudding was flying around - this was no less than a miracle. In the end, Mr. Salazar could not keep up with the kids in the Jalapeno Eating Contest and had to bow out after trying only a few. The Directors, as always, were very gracious and allowed the kids, as well as the adults to have a great time! I wish to give special thanks to Mason Hochstetler for his timing skills in the Jalapeno Eating Contest and also to Jacob Sewell and the Loading Crew for coming in right after school and helping to set things up. Jacob stayed with the Boosters to the very end, making sure we had everything squared away.
Norma Martinez and Jan Thompson served pizza, nachos, and hot Cheetos, and along with Jaime Longoria, they served up the traditional Band lemonade and water. Boney Raymundo provided snow cones and Janie and George Elizondo finished us off with some wonderful ice cream floats! Pollyana and Larry Diaz were on hand to help coordinate anything that needed help.
The day was finished off with the EggFest Pinata… although it had to be finished off with a tennis racket, since the stick broke in half, but nonetheless, it was an amazing night! It was a wonderful evening and we all had so much fun watching the students have a great time. At the end of the evening, the students and parents gathered out by the “M”, Mr. Egger pulled everyone in and spoke about the events of the day. Tragically earlier in this morning, McHi lost a student in a horrible car accident. While the student was not a band student, it was evident that the loss was felt by all of the kids and adults. This year’s Band theme “We Are One” really showed in the kids that night as Cooper Thompson, who is the Band Chaplain, led a prayer and the kids spent a few moments in silence, in honor of Marisa Marie Baumann. It was heart-warming to see them think of her and her family, but it wasn’t surprising really… after all, this IS McHi – and if you are McHi, you ARE family!
Thank you everyone for making EggFest 2012 a wonderful time!
