Mrs. Laurie Hochstetler was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. After graduating from high school, she attended Northeast Louisiana University where she received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree. She then became a graduate assistant in flute and marching band and received her Master of Music Education Degree the next year.
She and her husband, Robbie, started teaching in McAllen as band directors in 1982. Since then, she has taught at several area schools as both a band director and a choir director. She started teaching at McHi in 2002 and considers it her “Dream Job!”
She and Robbie have three children, Meredith, Morgan, Mason and a wonderful son-in-law, Andrew. She also has two dogs, Josie and Daisy.
Mrs. Hochstetler teaches the Concert Band and AP Music Theory class at McAllen High School.
Mrs. Hochstetler,
We met at TBA and spoke about getting Cissy some reeds and a little help before region auditions. I heard from Cissy once, but never got a reply to where she would like her reeds sent or how many she needed. We a few more weeks to go I wanted to check in and see if you had found someone to go over her music and her instrument to make sure she was all set.
I would be happy to make the trip down and clinic your students, provided we can put together a day’s work between your middle schools and high school.
Please let me know if I can help.
Thank you,
gillian
