Mr. Egger

Mr. Egger received his Bachelor of Music Education and his Master of Music Performance from the University of Mississippi.  While at Ole Miss, Mr. Egger was under the touleage of Dr. L. M. Snavely, former band director at McAllen High School.

Mr Egger has taught at McHi since the fall of 2002, and taught for McAllen I.S.D. since 1988.  He is a member of TMEA, TBA, TMAA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the International Trombone Association.  Mr. Egger recently served as a member of the TMEA State Board.  He is currently the TMEA Region 15 Band Vice-President and serves as the region representative for the UIL State Music Advisory Committee.  Mr. Egger is in constant demand as a clinician and adjudicator.  He has presented clinics at both the Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmasters Association Conventions.   Mr. Egger is also a charter member of the Rio Grande Valley Band Director Hall of Fame Committee.

Another joy for Mr. Egger is serving as the Rio Grande Valley TUBACHRISTMAS Coordinator.  This event has become one of the largest in the world.  Over 400 young tuba and euphonium performers from the Rio Grande Valley each year have become part of this very special event.

Mr. Egger teaches the Wind Ensemble at McAllen High School and coordinates all activities of the McAllen High School Band program.

The biggest joy in Mr. Egger’s life is his wonderful family.  His wife of 22 years, Sandy, is a 4th grade teacher at Garza Elementary.  He has 3 children, Jay (a senior bass trombonist), Emily (a freshman flutist) and Jack (a beginner trumpet).
